The Ann Harris Initiative is delighted to announce Ivy Young, LVT as its first recipient of the AHI Tuition Reimbursement Grant.
About Ivy
Ivy is exactly the type of veterinary emergency enthusiast AHI seeks to support wholeheartedly.
“My whole life has involved or evolved around animals.” From a young age Ivy was involved with 4-H and Future Farmers of America, gaining knowledge about livestock and equine. At age 12 she began volunteering at Spring Farm Cares and was hired there at age 14 where she worked with bunnies, birds, dogs, cats, pigs horses and more. During high school Ivy studied veterinary science through BOCES.
Ivy’s love of animals propelled her to pursue LVT training through Penn Foster College. Her first externship was at the Veterinary Medical Center(VMC) of CNY. It was during this externship Ivy developed a passion for veterinary emergency care and eventually went on to work as a Veterinary Assistant at VMC where Ivy now works full time as an LVT in the emergency room. She plans to pursue further training to become a Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) in Emergency and Critical Care.
We sincerely appreciate Ivy’s commitment to the well-being of animals and also to veterinary emergency care. The AHI looks forward to supporting her journey in veterinary emergency medicine.
With your continued support, we will continue to provide financial assistance to many more individuals such as Ivy.
